Feral Roar: A Poem

You tried to tame

me, declaw me,

cage and whip me 

into submission.

 

Dispirited, I let you kill

my pride, my ferocity,

and cut me off from

my powerful mane.

 

But now, as I become

more lioness than woman,

nevermore will I silence

my feral roar
